About

Welcome to Invermay School, my name is Melissa Grona and I am the Principal as well as a classroom teacher. Invermay School is a Kindergarten to Gr. 12 school that draws from three feeder communities and their surrounding rural municipalities: Rama, Invermay and Margo. Our class configurations range from split grades in the mornings for ELA, Math and Social Studies, to triple grades in the afternoons. Kindergarten attends on even school days for the full day. Our staff is very busy planning for their classes as well as offering a wide range of extra-curricular teams and clubs: Student Representative Council (SRC), Yearbook, Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD), Red Cross Youth Leadership Group, Volleyball – Jr. and Sr., Football (Co-op team with Foam Lake), Boys Basketball (Co-op team with Foam Lake), Basketball – Jr. and Sr. girls, Badminton – Jr. and Sr., Track and Field – K-5 and Gr. 6-12

Introduction

Invermay’s first school was originally built in 1920 and operated as a one-room school. Many years later, it was turned into a high school. In 1963, an elementary school was built across the street. A large auditorium with a science lab and library above was built in the high school in 1970. It now serves as Invermay’s community hall.

Soon afterwards, students from Margo, followed by students from Rama started attending Invermay’s schools. This was due to the fact that their schools shut down.

The present-day Invermay School was established on December 22, 1989, with part of it being made from the improved elementary school. It marked the first day that Invermay’s elementary school and high school combined into one, serving grades Kindergarten to grade 12.
